Rozemarijne Datauker

Rozemarijne was born in Budel in 1962 and spent her childhood in Brabant. After several years in Israel and many years in Amsterdam, she and her family finally settled in Koog aan de Zaan. Rozemarijne works as a translator Dutch to English and English to Dutch, both from home and from the Gateway office in the beautiful Moersbergen Castle.

 

Language has always played an important role in Rozemarijne's life. She studied Dutch for several years before she left for Israel, where she studied Hebrew in a kibbutz. Strangely enough, it was here that her love for the English language and all things British was born, as she was 'adopted' by a group of British volunteers, some of whom would become friends for life. Language is also important in her family as Rozemarijne and her husband raise their two sons bilingually in Dutch and Hebrew.

 

After her return from Israel, Rozemarijne started working as a legal secretary in a law firm. She later moved to a large multinational where she worked as an assistant information and communications officer, a job involving data rather than language.

 

Convinced that her interests lay in language, Rozemarijne started studying English at the ITV Institute for Interpreters and Translators. It soon became clear that she had made the right decision and in view of her experience in the legal field, a choice for a specialization in legal translation seemed obvious. She did her traineeship at Gateway and started working there straight after her graduation. Apart from translating, Rozemarijne supports Aart van den End in updating the Legal and Economic Lexicon.
